Update: Sense Mobile

Since the release of the Sense driver for Control4 we've heard great reviews but there was always something missing: a mobile version of the interface

NOW, the same clean and easy to use interface that our customers were enjoying through their Control4 touchscreen is available through the Control4 mobile app.

The Control4 Sense user interface provides the home owner with a simplified view of energy consumption as compared to the native app. The items shown on the interface provide a condensed yet complete overview of the current as well as historical energy expenditure. If solar is connected to the Sense energy monitor the application will also display energy production information alongside the consumption data.

Below are screenshots of each section of the interface as displayed on Control4 touchscreens and mobile phones.

HOME:

Shows live consumption (and production, if applicable) information alongside a list of devices found in the smart home. Selecting a device from the list will take the user to the devices page to view more information about the selected device.

SOLAR:

This section is only displayed if the Sense energy monitor is connected with the solar energy production system. Both current and historical data can be viewed here.

TRENDS:

Here the user can find a summary of consumption (and production, if applicable) data collected by the Sense monitor. The data can be filtered using Day, Week, Month, and Year buttons.

DEVICES:

Sense energy monitor uses machine learning in order to detect devices found in the home. This page will list all devices found in the home as well as allow the user to see current and historical data related to the selected device.

Sense helps homeowners understand their home's energy, and get a view into their home they can’t get anywhere else. Paired with the Control4 smart home customers can monitor power consumption and solar production, get personalized alerts and view energy directly from both their touchscreen and mobile interface.

New Driver: Nanoleaf

Finally Nanoleaf products can be fully integrated into the Control4 smart home giving you access to all of the product's features including:

  • Bi-directional control and feedback

  • Local control (does not use Cloud)

  • IP communication

  • On / Off control

  • Brightness control

  • Full color control

  • Circadian lighting / temperature control

  • Color wheel Support

  • Dynamic lighting effect control

  • Rhythm mode control

  • Advanced Lighting Scene Support

Nanoleaf provides a suite of lighting products that transform ordinary lighting experiences into extraordinary ones. These are the Nanoleaf products supported by the new Control4 driver:

Nanoleaf's Smarter Decor products make lighting into art by providing you with a variety of shapes and lines to create living sculptures that light a home. The revolutionary products shake up the lighting industry with decor that not only has the ability to control light brightness, color and temperature (circadian lighting), but also allows for an ever growing number of fully customizable effects never before offered by other lighting manufacturers. On top of the ability to customize light color and temperature they are able to:

  • change light state per panel/line

  • allow for light flow between panels/lines (dynamic lighting effects)

  • allow for screen mirroring to match your video entertainment

  • allow for music synchronization to match your audio entertainment

  • allow for touch control

...this may vary by product.

EFFECTS/RHYTHM:

What makes nanoleaf stand out above its competition is not only providing the stylish light decor but also arming it with a plethora of effects. These effects create a light experience unattainable with other lighting products. The lights have the ability to flow between states creating various continuous patterns. Some of these patterns may respond to audio in the room or audio provided by an aux plugin.

The ability to control these effects is now available through your integrated smart home. The Nanoleaf driver will provide you with a controllable list of effects available on the "Light Extras" section of Navigator as well as the ability to change rhythm modes that allow you to toggle between the available audio sources (if the device has more then one source).

Pair with Cindev's Light Agent for simple and easy to use buttons on the Control4 interface that allow for quick preset selection as well as randomization of lights (on top of many other features).

Update: Sonnen EcoLinx New API

REQUIRED UPDATE

We are writing to let you know that starting Sep 2022, sonnen will begin pushing out the new API V2 to all systems. If you have already implemented an older version of Control4 driver in your project, you will need to update to the latest version to continue to use. Click the link below to download the latest version from DriverCentral:

New sonnen ecoLinx Driver

NEW API TOKEN

sonnen now implements a token for API security. This token must be included in all API requests. Cindev has updated the sonnen driver to include a driver property for this token.

To obtain the token:

  • Log into sonnen via a web browser: [sonnenIP/dash/login]

  • Login via Installer

  • Select Software - Integration

  • Enable Read and Write API

  • Copy the API token and paste it into the Control4 Driver Property: sonnen API token

WEATHER INTEGRATION

Currently the Control4 driver uses Dark Sky for weather integration. This Cloud API will be shutting down starting Jan 2023. Cindev has updated the driver to support two other weather APIs for continued integration.  Dealers will need to select the appropriate Weather API in the driver to continue to use weather integration.

National Weather Service: This API supports receiving weather alerts without requiring an API key. For more information on this API click here.

Tomorrow.io: This API allows for weather alerts and cloud coverage data. The alerts are also aggregated from multiple sources. It does require an API key which can easily be obtained from their website.  Currently, a free API key allows for 500 API requests each day. By default, the driver requests weather alert data every 30 minutes, or 48 requests per day. For more information this API click here.

Please update all your systems to keep your sonnen and Control4 integration working. If you have any questions or issues, please contact DriverCentral Support here.
